What Are Some Good Tropical Community Fish?

I’m getting a bigger tank and I want some more types of fish that are tropical, and colorful, and grow to a medium size (not small ones), what are some suggestions?

angelfish, rainbowfish, barbs (tinfoil barbs), cichlids, loaches, plecos etc.

Whoops I forgot we were talking tropical fish…I was just thinking size for the goldfish lol

And why don’t you think angelfish Ryan? And most tetras are small Ryan. Like neons, glolite, cardinals, blackskirts, white skirts etc. I believe we were talking about MEDIUM fish?

I don’t think angelfish, and most cichlids count as community fish. And goldfish don’t could as tropical.

If your going with medium fish, you could do tiger barbs. A nice school of 6 or more would be good. They also come in green and albino, and if you were to do each of them, I’d do at least 3 of each.

Some tetras would also work. Diamond tetras, black skirt tets.(not the long fish if tiger barbs present), white skirt tets., rosy barbs, rainbow fish, and one rainbow or red tailed shark.

I agree with Ryan. Angel fish can be fin nippers. My lad has two in his tank and they have destroyed the fins on just about every other fish in the tank. Ciclids can get quite large depending on the kind you buy. They can also cause mayhem in your tank as they like to dig and uproot plants. They can be quite agressive during breeding.
I would go for gouramis, clown loach, mollies and plattys (keep a watchful eye for white spot with mollies and platys though) larger tetras. Plecostamus catfish, siamese fighters, silver dollar, rams. Check out this website. I use it a lot for fish profling.

it all depends on what size tank you plan on getting.
most of the fish mentioned would need a 40+ gallon tank.

larger tetras would be nice if you want a peaceful communty tank. buenos aires tetras can reach 4 inches. columbian tetras, black skirt tetras..they all get from 3-4 inches.

if you could email me with the size of tank your getting, i could give you a great stocking list!
